Welcome to my Profile ...

My name is Mazyar Hedayat. I'm an attorney and blogger in the Chicago area, as well as the president of a title company, and principal of a growing network of blogs and websites. I also speak and present to groups on legal and business topics, and consult on subjects such as Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0. You can find articles, posts, and podcasts of mine on the blogs and websites I maintain, and many other places on the Internet. You can find my work on Amazon.com and Westlaw.

School in Chicago

After an extremely successful year at the University of Chicago I transferred to the University of Michigan where I earned a BA with Distinction from the Honor's College and an MBA from the Ross School of Business. After earning my MBA I headed to Chicago where I worked my way through law school at DePaul University. While a student at DePaul I performed research for, wrote, and edited, a number of law review articles for professors. I was alsoEditor of the Digest of International Law,and received an American Jurisprudence Award.

Work in Chicago

After law school I worked in Chicago; I am still the president of the law firm I started in 1995. I have also had the opportunity to do a number of other interesting things, including the creation of elawcentral, one of the first legal web portals and a precursor of the current social networking wave. I have also held Series 7 and 63 securities licenses, a business broker's license, and a title agent designation. Since 2004 I have also been the president of Aegis Title.

Service to the Bar

I am a current or former member of several professional organizations including

American Bar Association
American Bankruptcy Institute
Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association
Chicago Bar Association
DuPage County Bar Association

I remain active at the DuPage County bar association where I have served as the chair or vice chair of various committees including business law, bankruptcy, and lawpractice management. I have also chaired, and remain a member of, the publication board. I am also a member of the bar's long range planning board, charged with technology matters. While active with the bar association I started the first blogs and wikis there, and authored model bar association blogging policies that have since been referred to as a best practice in the field. In 2005 the Board of Directors of our bar association honored me with an award for my service.

Service to the Bench

This year I have had the honor of serving on the campaign of Judge Dorothy French of the 18th Judicial Circuit in her bid to become a full circuit judge. This promises to be a spirited race and I consider myself lucky to represent an excellent candidate who happens to be very nice as well. For more information go to Judge French's Official Campaign Website.
